Resources + Reports

The Commissioner’s Annual Report 2016-17 was presented to the Minister for Education and Child Development on 29 September 2017.

The annual report is available below in the Reports section.

The work of CCYP is guided by an international treaty, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). One of the Commissioner’s primary roles is to promote the rights of children and young people in South Australia and advocate for systemic change. The creation of this position was recommended by Royal Commissioner Margaret Nyland in the Child Protection Systems Royal Commission Report 2016.

It is proposed that the Children’s Commissioner will be independent of ministerial direction, and will be encouraged to engage children in the process of making decisions affecting their lives, undertake research and publish reports.
