This report from 2022 explores what children and young people experience within the child protection system.
The systemic safety and wellbeing of children depends on them having opportunities to be included in the processes that affect their lives.
When children talk about being safe, they talk about feeling valued, known, heard and understood. They talk about stable relationships with people who are kind and in whom they can trust.
As such, attending to children’s participation rights alongside their rights of protection, must be a key part of system reform.
