In partnership with and funded by the Commissioner for Children and Young People, South Australia, and the Department for Education, South Australia, a small pilot project was conducted to explore facilitators of, and barriers to, positive esports behaviours.
The rapid expansion of the esports industry ecosystem, which is inclusive of, but not limited to, players, spectators, game developers, tournament organisers, has highlighted the complexities associated with the regulation and governance of esports and the need to explore opportunities for promoting and supporting positive esport behaviours. These challenges are likely to become even more complex as new technologies continue to flood society, and with increasing integration and blending of the worlds in which we live, work and play.
