Cost of living
A large number of families in South Australia struggle to pay for basics like food, housing, clothes and transport. This means that many children struggle to go to school each day or to take part in other activities. The Commissioner is trying to convince decision makers to make the lives of poorer South Australians better. For example, she would like the Department for Education to pay for students in poorer schools to be given free school meals so that all students can have at least one healthy meal a day.
